We're already months into 2010, and seniors still haven't seen any relief because of the lack of a cost-of-living adjustment to their Social Security. For the first time in 35 years, the regular payment update they've depended on did not occur.
Congress must act quickly. Will you help us flood their offices with letters, demanding that lawmakers make relief a priority?
Your action today is critical. If Social Security checks stay flat while the costs of prescription drugs, utilities and health care continue to rise, more seniors simply won't be able to make ends meet.
Tough economic times like these hit seniors particularly hard.
Home values have dropped. The stock market is down. Many have suffered catastrophic losses to their retirement savings.
And yet the average senior spends $4,400 out of pocket every year on health care alone.
Congress has the power to provide relief for seniors. And I believe they'll do it – if they hear from people like you and me.
Thank you for helping to ensure that seniors get the relief they need.
Sincerely,
Barry Jackson
