Nearly 3,000 Demand Progress members will call the White House today to demand that President Obama keep his campaign pledges and fix the PATRIOT Act. We'll be joined by thousands more from groups like the ACLU, Electronic Frontier Foundation, Bill of Rights Defense Committee, and others.
Our work is incredibly urgent: The PATRIOT Act is back up for renewal this month, and we need Obama on our side.

Demand Progress is only a few months old, but we're at the forefront of the effort to fix the PATRIOT Act. More than 70,000 Demand Progress members contacted their elected officials in support of PATRIOT Act reform in January -- more than any other group that's working on the issue this year. We aired an ad on cable news in metro-Washington, DC. Then our allies in Congress stood up and blocked a lengthy renewal.
Now, as Congress considers real reforms to the PATRIOT Act, we're partnering with groups like the ACLU, Bill of Rights Defense Committee, Electronic Frontier Foundation, and others, to make sure Americans' voices are heard.
